Still loving the June SquareHue SoBe Collection. You can see swatches at The Silver Nail, and see the art I did with the first color here on Formulated Phrase. The second color I used was Ocean Drive.
Ocean Drive is that pretty seafoam aqua shade that’s so popular this season. I feel like I have this shade in a variety of brands (butter LONDON’s Poole, Julep’s Dianna, Nails Inc’s Chelsea Physic Garden, essie’s Where’s My Chauffeur? and Turquoise and Caicos), but none of them are actually duplicates: they’re all off by a shade of blue or green. It wouldn’t matter if I owned dupes anyway; my goal is to OWN ALL THE BLUES.
This formula went on a little streaky, but it smoothed out better than Lincoln Drive, and I used three thin coats for this mani. I think blue/green and yellow are a bright and fresh combination, so I accented a nail with SquareHue’s Yellow Submarine, which also required three coats. Then I added dots with a dotting tool in Ocean Drive.
The colors are a little brighter (and the aqua a little greener) in person than in the photos; I tried to replicate color accuracy, but blues and yellows can be hard to capture, especially at 6:15 am before heading out to work. 🙂
So what do you think? Can you ever have enough aquas for spring and summer?
