While my face falls off from my sinus infection, I had hoped to be able to squeal with delight over cute packaging in this box. Instead, I kind of squealed, “Oh God, can’t sleep, dolls will eat me!” Let’s tour the creep show, hmm?
Memebox is a Korean Beauty mystery box. They generally release new boxes each week; some are themed and others miscellaneous products. All items are Korean, usually lesser-known brands. Boxes range in price (starting usually at $23 USD) and standard shipping (which takes a couple of weeks) is $6.99 USD per box ordered (so if you order two boxes, it’s $13.98 for shipping). Boxes are usually pre-ordered to be shipped at a later date, although they do have some ready to ship now.
Memebox products come packaged in a sturdy pink cardboard box with crumpled tissue paper for padding. The box then comes in either a pink bubblewrap mailer or a shipping box if multiple boxes are shipping at once. The products are usually arranged neatly and are often sealed by the manufacturer.
Hope Girl Tinted Lip Balm (03 Hot Cherry)
Scented with a delicate strawberry fragrance, this balm is both a lip tint and a lip balm. While the co-enzyme Q-10 and shea butter formula deeply nourishes your chapped lips, the lovely pink tint will stain your lips with a long-lasting, colorful radiance.
I’m not against Hope Girl, even though the “God loves you” message on the packaging is annoying. But I really don’t like this lip balm. First, I dislike pot balms because the product always gets under my nails and the pot gets dirty and gross. Second, the color and hydration pay-off isn’t fabulous with this brand. Third, I already got one of these in another box (in another color, at least) and I wasn’t thrilled with it. This is unswatched so I can give it away/trade it.
Cute factor: I hate both pink and leopard print. NOT CUTE.
Shara Shara Fairy’s Make-up Synergy Sun Cream SPF45 PA++ (30mL)
It provides a strong protection against UV-A and UV-B, but also creates an amazing synergy effect with base makeup and works to balance out uneven skin tone and texture. Plus, its formula absorbs quickly and adheres to skin without feeling heavy or sticky.
Leaving aside the doll staring into my soul, this seems like a nice product. I really need to get into the habit of wearing sunscreen year-round, and I’m happy to try something that promises to hold my makeup in place. I also think the box packaging is pretty cute.
Cute factor: If I were 13 years old or a person who was into dolls, it would be cute. But for me, SLIGHTLY CUTE.
ddung Family Foam Cleansing Cream (120mL)
The Fruits cream is enriched with various fruits extracts — plum, grapefruit, peach, apple, tangerine, and blueberry — and is extremely gently and moisturizing while its abundance, fine bubbles work to remove all skin impurities clogging upi your pores.
Apparently, ddung is a wildly popular brand of soulless, creepy-eyed articulated collector’s dolls. Sorry if you’re into them, but they scare me. Most dolls scare me, actually; I’m easily creeped out by toys. And bugs. And my dog sleeping with his eyes open. Anyway, Memebox sent either the fruits or milky version of this product. I would have preferred milky, and I have a million cleansers, so I’ll put this in the trade pile, but it sounds like it would be a good product. And I’m actually okay with the packaging.
Cute factor: eh, KINDA CUTE.
Shara Shara Kissing Sugar Lip Scrub
The grains of sugar and walnut shells work as natural scrubs, gently rubbing away any dead skin cells on your lip. This buttery scrub is also enriched with honey extracts, avocado oil, argan spinosa kernal oil, and various vegetable oil complex which deliver an intensive moisture and nutrition care for softer, suppler lips.
I always need lip scrubs, especially since I’m totally congested right now and mouthbreathing like a neckbeard. Even my dog walked away from me because I drooled all over myself last night. God, I hate being sick. Anyway, I need lip scrubs. This one is less scrubby and more emollient than I usually like, but it does the job better than the Pure Smile lip scrubs.
Cute factor: I sort of like this packaging. I’ll go with CUTE.
Youngwoosa Oh! It’s Lovely and Soft Cream (45g)
Instantly fills in deep hydration and prevents moisture loss by creating a protective barrier over your skin.
I have half a dozen rich creams now, which I love for the winter-time. But this one smells overwhelmingly floral, even through my clogged sinuses, so I think it needs to go. I don’t know if I can even foist this off on the unsuspecting, so hopefully someone would be willing to trade something for it.
Cute factor: uh, no. That housewife is rather scary. NOT CUTE.
Tonymoly Red Cheeks Girl’s Patch
This hydro-gel cheek patch is specifically designed to deliver an intense moisture relief and a soothing effect to dry, rosy cheeks. Enriched with rose flower, cherry blossom, apricot, aloe vera, cucumber, and green tea extracts, it’s extremeely gentle to skin and scented with a sweet fruity fragrance.
I really like hydrogel masks because they melt into my skin and feel very cooling, but hydrogel cheek patches tend to slide right off my face unless I lay down on my back while wearing them. Since I’m a giant lazy slug, this isn’t really a problem. I used these patches yesterday to tone down some redness, but they actually made my cheeks more red — so much for that.
Cute factor: yeah, this packaging is CUTE.
This is one of those few boxes I regret buying, and I probably won’t purchase any more My Cute Wishlist boxes. The products were curated well in the sense of having a good variety of items, but there were a lot of things in here I don’t want or won’t use. Oh, well. Win some, lose some, run away in fear of creepy dolls.
