I kind of love gels; I don’t know why. I enjoy the texture and translucence of them more than creams, so when Memebox introduced this gel-filled box, I jumped on it. I’m so glad I did!
Memebox is a Korean Beauty mystery box. They generally release new boxes each week; some are themed and others miscellaneous products. All items are Korean, usually lesser-known brands. Boxes range in price (starting usually at $23 USD) and standard shipping (which takes a couple of weeks) is $6.99 USD per box ordered (so if you order two boxes, it’s $13.98 for shipping). Boxes are usually pre-ordered to be shipped at a later date, although they do have some ready to ship now.
Memebox products come packaged in a sturdy pink cardboard box with crumpled tissue paper for padding. The box then comes in either a pink bubblewrap mailer or a shipping box if multiple boxes are shipping at once. The products are usually arranged neatly and are often sealed by the manufacturer.
Dermahouse Ginsent Peeling Gel (120ml)
Gently exfoliate dead skin cells to uncover glowing new skin with this gel infused with ginseng, papaya, and other oriental herb extracts. On clean skin, massage in a circular motion to roll, lift, and sweep away dead skin cells. Rinse thoroughly.
I’m not a huge fan of peeling products, because what peels is the product itself, not your skin. Something in the product balls up when it meets your skin and that’s what flakes off. However, I think they make good mild exfoliants — ones that can be used almost every day instead of the more abrasive scrubs that should only be used once or twice a week. This one, with ginseng and oriental herbs, makes my skin smooth and fresh looking.
ProYou Prori Vita Bright Moisture Gel Mist (100ml)
Various plant extracts instantly revitalize, calm, and moisturize skin to nourish it and prevent aging and wrinkles. Spray as often as needed throughout the day.
I got the lavender version of this in a prior box, and I like this one, too. In my dry classroom, it’s nice to have a variety of hydrating mists in my drawer, although my students are a bit confused when I pull them out and use them. 🙂
Chosungah Original Raw Blue Jam Water Block Cream (50ml)
With a rich moisture density that lasts over 100 hours, it’s an oil-free, gel-type moisturizer for cooling, soothing, and hydrating dry, sensitive skin and preventing any moisture lose with its special water block system. Apply it evenly to your face and let it soak into the skin.
Chosungah is a new brand to me, but I’ve read raves about it online, so I was excited to get this product to try. The packaging, a soft squeezy blob, is a little mystifying, since it doesn’t sit well on my vanity shelf without falling flat and taking up more space. I’ll admit I haven’t tried it out yet, because I’ve totally neglected my face routine while grading up a storm. But I have some down time this weekend, so I’ll have to see if it really lasts 100 hours. Do I not wash my face for four days, or what? We’ll see.
Secret Key Sheer Light Essential Gel Sun Screen (43ml)
It feels extremely light, soft, and moisturizing on the skin. With a high UV protection level of SPF 50+ and PA+++, it’s entirely free of paraben, mineral oil, benzophenone, artificial coloring, or animal oil, making it gentle and suitable enough to be used by everyone. Apply as the last stage of skincare in the morning.
Eh, sunscreen. What can I say? I like it; it doesn’t seem to clog my pores or make my face too white.
Hope Girl Waterproof Gel Eyeliner (02 Brown)
Creates an intense line without creasing or flaking. It’s soft, silky formula with quick-drying oils creats a lightweight base for smooth application without skipping.
Ok, as much I dislike the Hope Girl lip tints I keep getting, I love this liner. Love it. I’ve never really used pot gel liner — I prefer gel pens or liquid pens — but this one truly does go on smooth as butter. The line is nice and dark, and it stays put. I’m constantly having to wipe liner from my undereye black holes, but this didn’t go anywhere all day and stayed vibrant until I took it off with makeup remover. Love it.
Holika Holika Holy Berry Jelly Tint (02 Berry Berry)
Rich in vitamin C, tannin, and anthocyanin, it will soften, moisturize, and jelly-up your lip.
This goes on almost clear, despite the tint in the bottle. I prefer matte lips, so I think I’ll give this away.
Overall, I’m really pleased with this box. I got some high-quality cosmetics with a fun texture, and mostly things that I can use. I’d buy a Jelly 2, if Memebox released one.
