I missed the first round of scent boxes, so I picked up the next three in a bundle that advertised buy two get one free. They were each $15, so I spent $37 (including shipping) for all three (using a code that gave me free shipping on one of them). That’s probably more than I should have paid for these three boxes, considering what I got, but I do like several items in all of them. First up, the Floral Box.
Memebox is a Korean Beauty mystery box. They generally release new boxes each week; some are themed and others miscellaneous products. All items are Korean, usually lesser-known brands. Boxes range in price (starting usually at $23 USD) and standard shipping (which takes a couple of weeks) is $6.99 USD per box ordered (so if you order two boxes, it’s $13.98 for shipping). Boxes are usually pre-ordered to be shipped at a later date, although they do have some ready to ship now.
Memebox products come packaged in a sturdy pink cardboard box with crumpled tissue paper for padding. The box then comes in either a pink bubblewrap mailer or a shipping box if multiple boxes are shipping at once. The products are usually arranged neatly and are often sealed by the manufacturer.
Sally’s Box Friendly Cherry Blossom Hand Mask
“An easy-to-wear glove-type hand care enriched with cherry blossom extracts and shea butter, it will deliver intense nutrition to your dry, roughened hands.”
First things first — I’m terrified by this package design. I don’t know why, because I find most of the other Sally’s Box designs cute, but something about her wild-eyed expression and her big ol’ hands in the foreground creeps me out. O.O
Since I polish my nails multiple times a week, I do pay attention to the condition of my hands. I’m constantly slathering on hand or cuticle cream. I used a TonyMoly hand mask once (peach), and found to be unsatisfying. My hands just felt clammy rather than very moisturized, and I feel like I can get better results with Vasoline and cotton gloves at night. I’ll probably use this item, but I may give it to a friend instead, just because I don’t think this brand will be any more effective than the other.
ESTHE Shower Cologne (100mL)
“A finely-spraying body perfume that comes in three most popular floral fragrances — soft, lovely rose bouquet, delicately sensual white musk, and refreshingly fruity and citrus floral.”
I got the rose scent of this cologne. The quality is pretty cheap — it smells like alcohol more than anything else. But once the alcohol evaporates, it leaves behind a soft rose scent that isn’t bad. I can’t imagine gifting this to anyone, so maybe I’ll use it to scent my drapes or something.
L’OCEAN Feromonika Perfume (10mL)
“L’OCEAN actually took internationally popular high-brand fragrances and infused them into their trendy series.”
I’m not sure boasting that your brand rips off luxury perfumes is the way to go, but okay. I got the Delos Coral scent, and I’m not sure what it’s supposed to be, but I actually like it. It smells floral, but with deeper, woodsy notes. I dunno, I’m terrible at describing scents.
Secret Key Perfume Hand Cream (30g)
“This series has six varieties of fragrance that actually last on your hands while being deeply hydrating and replenishing at the same time.”
I love scented hand cream, so I have dozens of tubes of it lying around in every room, in my car, in my purse, and in my desk at work. I haven’t tried this one yet, so I’m not sure what scent it is, but I’m a little worried that it’s going to be unspecified floral mix. I do like Secret Key products, so I’m sure it’ll be moisturizing.
I definitely wouldn’t have picked up this box if it hadn’t been free with the other two, and I’m not thrilled that two of the four products are perfumes and one is a one-use mask. I think there are so many floral scented products they could have chosen that this box ends up being a disappointment. I’ll hesitate before buying any more scent bundles.
