The last of the scent bundle boxes is Sweet Shop. I thought it would be sweets like pastries: chocolate, hazelnut, caramel. Memebox was thinking sweets like candy, so that’s what we got. Hmm. I would have preferred pastries.
Memebox is a Korean Beauty mystery box. They generally release new boxes each week; some are themed and others miscellaneous products. All items are Korean, usually lesser-known brands. Boxes range in price (starting usually at $23 USD) and standard shipping (which takes a couple of weeks) is $6.99 USD per box ordered (so if you order two boxes, it’s $13.98 for shipping). Boxes are usually pre-ordered to be shipped at a later date, although they do have some ready to ship now.
Memebox products come packaged in a sturdy pink cardboard box with crumpled tissue paper for padding. The box then comes in either a pink bubblewrap mailer or a shipping box if multiple boxes are shipping at once. The products are usually arranged neatly and are often sealed by the manufacturer.
Pure Smile Jewelry Scrub Glitter Sugar Scrub (100mL)
“Made from black sugar, shea butter, jojoba seed oil, glycerin, and also diamond powder extracts for clearing your skin of any impurities and maintaining it silky smooth and healthy.”
Well, this was included because it’s a sugar scrub, but it smells floral instead of sweet. I’m not sure how I feel about “precious gem extracts,” but I got sapphire and blue is my favorite color, so I’m ok with that. This is a nicely granulated sugar scrub, and I like sugar scrubs better than salt scrubs because of the way they melt into the skin. I’m still using up some other scrubs I had open, so I’ll rotate this one in when those are gone.
Hello Everybody Vita Berry Shampoo (220mL)
“This shampoo is supercharged with 10 berry complexes that gently cleanse and repair damage without stripping color, wilting perms, or drying out hair. It deeply penetrates into each lock of hair to reconstruct each individual strand from the inside out to rebuild and resurface hair, leaving strands strong, healthy, smooth, shiny, and fully restored.”
Since I have curly hair, I gave up using shampoos for awhile, but I decided to try this one and I’m pleasantly surprised. It does seem to condition rather than strip my hair, and left it feeling clean and soft. My curls bounced up nicely and the ends felt smooth rather than frizzy. The scent isn’t an artificial strawberry smell, but instead smells exactly like fresh blended strawberries. I really like this product, and I’m glad I got it.
Hope Girl Tinted Lip Balm (5g)
“Scented with a delicate berry fragrance, this is both a lip tint and a balm. While the co-enzyme Q-10 and shea butter formula deeply nourishes your chapped lips, the lovely pink tint will stain your lips with a long-lasting, colorful radiance.”
I don’t like this product at all. First of all, the tint was so non-existent I didn’t bother to take a picture of the swatch on my hand. Second, it doesn’t smell like strawberry (which is the flavor I got); instead it smells plastic-like. Finally, I don’t like how it feels on my lips. I like the Hope Girl mascara I got in the Office Essentials box, but this lip tint just isn’t doing it for me.
Also, what the heck?
Um. Ok. Good to know. (Someone on Make-up Talk said, “God loves you as you are, but Hope Girl doesn’t!” :D)
Pure Smile Choosy Lip Pack Shining (white pearl and pink pearl)
“Enriched with collagen, vitamin E, hyaluronic acid, and honey, these deliver abundant moisture and nutrition to your lips easily and quickly. The hydrogel adheres tightly onto the lips and offers a cooling and soothing effect to chapped, stressed-out skin.”
You can use these on your lips or on your nipples (which would be useful if I had a baby and were breast-feeding, I suppose). I love hydrogel patches, but I haven’t been in love with the Pure Smile Choosy ones. Maybe this Shining line will be more effective, but so far nothing beats Pure Smile’s snail lip treatments.
I liked this box better than the floral, but not as much as the tropical fruits — but I think that’s because I was expecting something entirely different. This isn’t so bad, except for that tinted lip balm, and I’ll use the other products happily.
