Week 31: Inspired by the Supernatural

I recently watched the Guillermo Del Toro movie Mama. Once I stopped trying to hide my face in my dog’s tummy, I noticed that all the movies that creep me out most feature big-eyed waify pale ghosts with lots of wild dark hair. That’s a trope used so often it’s cliche now, but never fails to freak me out. I used to train martial arts, and sometimes worked with a skinny girl with long, dark hair that she used to let just hang over her face. Because I outranked her, she had to line up behind me, and although she was really a sweet young woman, I would catch her out of the corner of my eye and get creeped out, especially since I had recently watched The Ring. Poor kid.

I started with two coats of a-England Camelot on pinkie and pointer finger, and two coats of Illamasqua Scorch on my middle two fingers. With a dotting tool and a thin paint brush I added eyes and wisps of hair, making sure to draw some white wisps in the black to give the illusion of a face behind the hair.

Sundays are usually my beauty day, so I had my face slathered in a Boscia white purifying mask and my hair was stringy and all over the place. I matched my nails!

Scary!

What do you think; do onryo creep you out or are you immune?

  1. I LOVE LOVE LOVE your creepy nails! I have not seen the movie, but it’s on my “to watch” list. Lately, I’ve been too chicken to watch anything by myself because if I do, I’m usually all alone in my big ole empty house! I get spooked by all scary movies but for some reason I continue torturing myself! EEEEK.
