Zoya: three Satins

I love autumn. Well, except for that whole back-to-work thing. But I love the transition to cooler temperatures, apple picking, Halloween, and especially fall colors. The various fall polish collections are mostly out, except for some Halloween-specific ones, and the only one that was a must-buy for me was Zoya. I got all six Cashmeres (creme finish), three Satins (metallic finish), and four PixieDusts (textured matte finish). First up for swatching is the set of Satins.

Textured nails are THE trend for 2013, and I was dying to use my new fall colors, so I pulled together this simple design for this week’s challenge. I know I just did dots, but I like how they look and I’m getting better at putting them in straight lines each time I do them.

Gradient: Stormy Nails

Here in New England, the saying goes that if you don’t like the weather, wait five minutes. I’ve waited five days for some sunshine, and there appears to be none in sight. I had some outside work to do that I put off because it looked like rain this morning; sure enough, it’s pouring down now like a monsoon. So I thought it would be a good day to do a stormy color design on my nails.

These are the color of the sky today. And yesterday, And presumably tomorrow.

Week 15: Rainbow

15

Such an appropriate theme for this week! And while that wasn’t our thought when we planned this challenge (rainbow is one of the themes from the 31-day challenged Becca and I used as a template), this little bit of serendipity makes me smile. Hooray for another step for equality! If only the Voter Protection Act decision had been equally on target. *sigh*

Okay, back to nails.

Enough politics, show me the rainbow!

Zoya Instagram Giveaway/Contest

I’m late to the Zoya train, but I love these polishes: the colors are gorgeous and the formula wonderful. Right now, Zoya is relying on their fanbase to choose the colors for a summer mini trio. The potential colors are the 2013 summer collections: Stunning and Irresistible (swatched at these links by ThePolishAholic).

All you have to do is go to Zoya’s Instagram page, click on the photos for their summer collection colors, and “like” the ones you want to see in the trio (you can choose more than three). The ones with the most votes will get packaged together, but all the colors combined have to receive 20,000 likes in total for Zoya to take the next step.

That next step is a giveaway! They’ll give 2000 of the mini trios away free with any $10 purchase (plus S+H) from the Zoya website. Now, that’s a bit of a catch, because polishes are $8 and PixieDusts $9, so you’d have to buy at least two polishes, but since there are dozens of gorgeous shades available, it’s not hard to find two to love. Their brand polish remover ($9.99, argh!) is excellent and nourishing, unlike the acetone I usually use, so that’s worth a purchase, too.

Votes need to be in by Sunday, June 23, 11:59 EST!

Here’s the fine print direct from Zoya’s site:
