Week 09: Floral

09: floral

I love floral nail art, so I found it pretty difficult to narrow down what I wanted to do, but I finally ended up with this simple, pretty manicure that’s perfect for spring.

I managed to take these photos in the single hour of sunlight we had today. At least the rain is good for my actual flowers!

Inspired by this tutorial by Mr. Candiipants, I started with a base of OPI My Vampire is Buff, which seems to have forgiven me my formula problems with the application of a bunch of thinner and some time. I drew petals in China Glaze Peachy Keen and Zoya Arizona, with leaves in SquareHue Flower Power and Revlon Rainforest. The flower centers are in SquareHue Groovy Love (the purple) and Julep Janel, which I got in a mystery box. I’m wearing Janel on my toes right now and it’s super pretty, even though the pink is too intense for my fingers to look good. I keep looking down and going “raspberry toes!”, which makes my dog try and lick them.

A sweet spring mani.

The original by Mr. Candiipants, with its larger, overlapping flowers, is much cuter. I didn’t realize until posting that I used almost the exact same colors as the tutorial; I wasn’t watching it when I polished my nails. But this was super easy to do and can be done in nearly every color combination, so I’ll be revisiting this pattern, I’m sure.

Next week: THE RED WEDDING.
