I originally planned some sort of epic nail art with fish and a little crab and everything, but the truth is, I’m bad at art. 🙂
I started with a base of OPI Don’t Pretzel My Buttons, which is sand-colored. I then sponged on a gradient of China Glaze Sea Spray (closest to the cuticle), essie Where’s My Chauffeur? (light blue), and Color Club Insta-This. I added texture to the sand with Zoya’s PixieDust in Godiva (which I’ll review in my next post), and covered the whole thing with top coat to blend the gradient better.
I added two starfish using Zoya Arizona and Zoya PixieDust shade Beatrix, which is from this summer’s collection. I then drew in some seaweed in SquareHue Flower Power (bright green), essie Sew Psyched (medium green), and Revlon Rainforest (dark green). I thought about adding a little fish to my index finger, but I didn’t want to mess anything up!
I’m still pretty weak at the sponging technique for doing gradients, but some of that has to do with the cheap sponges I use, which shed bits that I then have to dig out. You can see some of them stuck to my nail, and the starfish on my middle finger is actually hiding a huge hole.
Despite that, I think this came out pretty nicely! I can’t wait to see what Becca comes up with over at Fishay, Fishay!
My school year finally ends on June 25, so next week is the long awaited summer theme!

This is so creative I love it!
Thank you so much!
I think this looks great! I love the textured sand and starfish 🙂
Thank you so much! I never thought I would like textured polish, but the Zoya PixieDust has so much sparkle it’s ridiculous. 😀
This is amazing! I’m so impressed, and I love the textured starfish!
Thank you! Get caught up, bb; I want to see your mermaid scales! ❤
THEY LOOK SO GOOD! I just have to photograph them in daylight.
You’re killing me! Be late to work and photograph them! 😀
